I was able to participate in the group, and the process was quite a lot to handle. One must do a lot of research to make a character. There are a bunch of stats, what gear one is carrying, what skill(s) a character knows, etc... all on a character sheet. This just shows that right from the beginning, there is already a level of commitment.
The task for the group was to clear out a certain area of a dungeon. The fight was interesting and not much of note, save for a foolish character chasing down a weakened enemy only to be ambushed. At the end, however, there came what seemed like masses of other enemies coming for backup. The party was already weakened and mostly out of spells, so we retreated. That is the interesting thing about the game, normally in a game you keep playing until you lose or win with no other option than to keep going. By retreating, it showed a level of survival and instinct that is not prevalent in other games. Sure, using abilities wisely to get the upper hand is always a plus, but it doesn't capture the whole role-play feeling. By being able to rest and come back again, it felt like I was really playing a character and not some hero whacking their sword where I please.
